Microblading FAQ
Microblading is a form of permanent cosmetics where pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual tool. Drawing hair-like strokes to mimic natural hairs in your brows will create fuller and perfect brows.
Up to 18 months. Hair color, skin type, after-care, and lifestyle also affect longevity of the results. Occasional touch-ups are a way to refresh the results. Done correctly, the treatments do not change color and fade naturally away with time.
Yes, a touch up session after 6-8 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and the outcome will vary from person to person. Certain areas may need to be refilled. Pigment color may need to be adjusted; brow thickness can be adjusted and more strokes can be added if necessary. Your touch up session for refining your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains its color for as long as possible.
Brow shaping is part of our treatment. When you go for brow shaping maintenance after Microblading, request that your esthetician follow your existing brow shape.
Most clients report little to no pain. However, it may hurt a little. The good news is that we will apply a numbing cream prior to treatment and chances are that you will feel little to no pain.
There is no downtime but the eyebrow will take about one week to fully heal. The brow will soften in color by up to 40-50% over that time.
Skin Care
On your first visit you will be asked to fill out our Facial Consent form which covers relevant health and skin history to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for you. Your esthetician will conduct a brief consultation with you before the service to determine which products and services best fit your skin care needs and goals. Your esthetician will then instruct you on the process of getting comfortable for your service. Some treatments require some disrobing for which the esthetician will leave the room while you undress to your comfort level. During the service, all you have to do is relax. Your esthetician will clearly communicate any relevant information or action needed during the treatment. Keep an open line of communication with your esthetician throughout the service, especially if anything is uncomfortable.
Everyone’s skin responds differently to skin care services. There is a slight chance that you may break out within 2-3 days after your service. Due to the exfoliation process in our skin care services; your skin may “purge” anything that is right below the surface of your skin before your treatment. These breakouts are usually mild and clear up within a few days. Just remember NO PICKING!
If you experience an allergic reaction after a skin care service, please let us know as soon as possible and consult your physician.
An SPF or 30 or higher is applied to your skin to finish your treatment. Most skin care services make your skin a little more sensitive to the sun due to the exfoliations process during the service. Daily application of an SPF of 15 or higher is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Limiting sun exposure and heat for 24-48 hours is advised. Also, vigorous aerobic activity, swimming in pools with chlorine or use of hot tubs, steam rooms and saunas are advised against during this time as well. If the treatment you are receiving requires any specific lifestyle accommodations, your esthetician will discuss those with you upon completion of the service.
There is no need to wash your face after a skin care service. Your esthetician will finish your service with a treatment serum, eye treatment, moisturizer, SPF and lip hydrator. Makeup may be applied 10-15 min after most skin care services, however, we strongly advise against wearing makeup after a skin care treatment.
Your esthetician will analyze your skin in your first treatment and ask about your skin’s history. We recommend starting with a Signature Facial for relaxation and to allow you to get to know your esthetician and communicate your skin care goals and concerns. Your esthetician will then make recommendations on a skin care plan for your individual needs.
You may also call the spa at any time if you have a question and our esthetician can answer your questions and help you choose the best service to start with.
Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation which utilizes a sterile surgical blade to remove the top layer of skin (2-3 weeks worth of dead skin cells) and the “peach fuzz” from face. It is non-invasive and very comfortable. Great option for pregnant women wanting exfoliation. Skin is brighter, smoother, more youthful and glowing after. Skin care products are able to penetrate more deeply and makeup application is smoother. Active acne is a restriction, as your esthetician may not perform the dermaplaning on any raised surfaces on the face.
Microdermabrasion is another form of physical exfoliation that utilizes a Diamond Tip wand with vacuum suction. Most clients describe it as “a little scratchy” but not uncomfortable. The vacuum suction stimulates lymphatic flow throughout face, promoting the internal health of your skin as well. Good option for those with acne scars or other forms of hyperpigmentation. Microdermabrasion may be performed on someone with active acne, at your esthetician’s discretion. Your esthetician will not perform microdermabrasion over open acne lesions.
Lash Lift & Tint
If you use waterproof mascara, discontinue use at least 2 days prior to your lift appointment. If you wear contacts, please take them out before your lift to avoid any irritation. Most importantly, please arrive to your appointment completely free of eye makeup.
Eyelash Extensions
Eyelash extension is the technique in which lashes are attached to each of the clients’ natural lashes with lash adhesive to enhance the length, curliness, and thickness of natural eyelashes.
Each application we provide is customized to your demand but we also customize your extension look on the basis of your natural eye shape and natural lash texture. Visually, you will see the difference in length, volume and curl from your natural lashes but typically you will not feel the extensions themselves. The lash extensions we use are very soft.
We allow for two full hours when applying a full set to a client and consultation will take just 5-10 minutes. Touch up appointments can be from 30 minutes to 1 hour. The time it takes depends upon the number of lashes applied.
You will get after care instructions after your initial set of lash extensions. Refills are done every two, three or four weeks depending on how quickly your natural lashes shed and grow.
Lash extensions last through a full growth cycle of natural eyelashes. It sheds with the natural shedding of lash during the growth and shedding process. Since each person’s natural lash growth is variable, just like hair growth, we suggest light maintenance every two weeks to three weeks to maintain a fuller look.
It is not recommended to use mascara with eyelash extensions because the mascara may interfere with the bond of the adhesive and allow for early separation between the extension and the natural lash.
It is recommended to use oil-free makeup remover only. Using too many oil-based products can break down the adhesive.
Do not use an eyelash curler with your extensions.
Do not get the lashes wet for the first 24 hours after application.
Do not use a sauna, go to a spa, or pool for the first 24 hours.
Do wash your lashes with your regular skin care regimen or specific eyelash wash, but make sure to blot and pat dry your lashes. DO NOT RUB or SCRUB!
